#TimeToSign – sign up to be an organ donor in Plymouth

It is #TimeToSign – Plymouth City Council has teamed up with the national NHS Blood and Transplant team and local NHS partners to promote organ donation across the city throughout December. The scheme is backed by Derriford Hospital, Livewell Southwest and Northern, Eastern and Western Clinical Commissioning Group (NEW Devon CCG).

Nobody wants to think about their own death but it only takes a couple of minutes to sign up as an organ donor and you could save someone’s life in future.

  •       Most people (around 86%) think organ donation is a good idea, but in Plymouth, only 37% of people are signed up to be an organ donor.
  •       There are currently 17 people in Plymouth waiting for an organ donor
  •       Over the past 5 years 9 people in the city have died waiting for a donor.
  •       11 people from Plymouth have received a transplant since April 2016 and 149 people have undergone a transplant in the last 5 years.
